Cartographer's statement

Income data is rife with potential for misuse. If you calculate based on an average instead of a median, exceptionally high-earners will skew the distribution. If you look at household income, you’re not counting households with multiple earners the same way you’re counting households with only one person with an income. That doesn’t mean we can never try to answer ‘Where are we underpaying our teachers the most?’ It just means the answer will vary based on how you frame the question.
