About this event

In honor of the 400th anniversary of the William Shakespeare’s First Folio, Special Collections invites you to explore Shakespeare throughout our collections!

Join us on Tuesday, April 4 from 2-4 pm for a special open house where staff will be available to answer questions as you explore these items up-close. No reservation required.

Items available include:

  • An 1824 map of Shakespeare’s birthplace
  • Late 19th century cabinet cards of actors in Shakespeare plays
  • A fine press printing of The Tempest by Caliban Press
  • An 1858 reproduction of a very early version of Hamlet with an alternate version of the famous “To be or not to be” speech

Can’t make it? Not to worry. These items will be available to view in the reading room (Wed–Fri, 9:30 am–4:30 pm) through the month of April. No appointment required.
