"Boston in 50 Maps" open to a page mapping the route of ducklings

Join us to celebrate the launch of Andy Woodruff's new book, Boston in 50 Maps! Andy will walk us through some of the book's most lively maps, which cover topics ranging from The Great Molasses Flood to Viking Leif Erikson’s supposed (and dubious) route to the area. He will also touch on a deeper history of Boston, highlighting maps of redlining and urban renewal practices that illustrate how structural forces have shaped the social and lived experience of Bostonians over time.

Books will be available during the event for purchase and signing, and can also be found at Porter Square Books. This event is free, open to the public, and will be held in-person at Newsfeed Café in the Central Library in Copley Square. Registration is required and ticketed guests will receive one free drink ticket, with additional food and drink available for purchase.

Andy Woodruff is a cartographer and recipient of the Leventhal Center's 2023 Designer-in-Residence Fellowship program where, inspired by nineteenth-century fire insurance atlases, he produced maps on urban change in Boston.
