Maps of China & Japan

The Map of China, based on a Ming dynasty map, includes the two capitals of Nanjing and Beijing in large double-ringed circles and the thirteen Ming provinces in large single-ringed circles, annotated with their distances relative to Beijing.
Another irregularity is the Map of Japan’s depiction of Kyushu, the central island, upside down in orientation, in other words, south is at the top of the map.
