Our “Evening with the Artist” events invite you to look, listen and create. Look closely at art and map pairings in the “Crossing Boundaries: Art // Maps” exhibition at the Leventhal Map & Education Center. Listen to an artist talk. Create something inspired by the artist’s work and process.
The third evening in our series features artist Naoe Suzuki. Many of Suzuki’s recent projects are explorations of water and our relationship to it, from its flow through our bodies to our care or neglect of it in the world around us. She writes, “I like water for the metaphors it provides for our lives such as the river of life, tears that cleanse us, and purification of the soul…Water is everywhere. Water is free. Water is our right, but is it really?” She reminds us, “Water is the source of all life—the blood of the earth.” Suzuki uses a wide-range of media in her work, though drawings and paintings on paper figure prominently.
Participation for this event is limited to 20 people.
