Inset with "A PLAN of the Town and Fort S.t AUGUSTINE" on a trompe l'oeil scroll, including a short lettered key noting the position of General Oglethorpe's camp and with its own scale of miles (approximately 1:37,000).
Lowery suggests a link between this map and another in the Faden Collection at the Library of Congress "[Map of the coast of Florida, from Talbot Island to the mouth of Musquitta River, with plan of St. Augustine, shewing the position of Gen. Oglethorpe's camp & c.]" (Call Number: Faden 43 Vault Copy 1), but the Library of Congress catalogue notes differences in the spelling of placenames and the placing of inlets.
Titled "A drawn Survey of the Coast from Fort William, near St. Juan's River, to Mosquito River, by Justly Watson, Engr. 1743; with a Plan of the Town of St. Augustine" in the Catalogue of Maps, Prints, Drawings, etc., forming the geographical and topographical collection attached to the Library of his late Majesty King George the third, etc., London, 1829.
Titled 'A colored "survey of the coast from Fort William, near St. Juan's River, to Mosquito River, 1743, per Justly Watson, engr.;" drawn on a scale of 2 1/10 miles to an inch: with a plan of the town and fort of St. Augustine, on a scale of 1 3/4 inch to a mile: 4 f. 4 in. x 1 f. 8 in.' in the Catalogue of the manuscript maps, charts, and plans, and of the topographical drawings in the British Museum.
Extends along the Florida coast from "Fort William" (located on present-day Fort George Island on the mouth of the St Johns River) to the "Mosquito River" (present-day Halifax River).
